Two warranties come with every new Mazda, and they cover different things for different lengths of time. This page sets out what each one is, what a limited warranty is not, and which terms we are not going to state because Mazda has not published them.
The Two Warranties On Every New Mazda
Both are limited warranties, which is a term of art rather than a hedge: they cover defects in material or workmanship, for a stated time or a stated mileage, whichever runs out first. Terms are set by Mazda and can change, and the warranty booklet that came with the vehicle is the document that governs — ask us to show you the terms that apply to the specific vehicle before you rely on anything here.
The New Vehicle Limited Warranty
The broader of the two, and the shorter. Mazda publishes it as 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first, on every new Mazda across the lineup. It is the coverage people mean by “the factory warranty”, and it is also the one that runs out first — which matters most when you are looking at a vehicle that is a couple of years old.
The Powertrain Limited Warranty
Narrower in what it covers and longer in how long it lasts: 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first, again brand-wide on every new Mazda. Powertrain means the parts that make the car move rather than everything on it, so the two warranties overlap for the first three years and then only this one is left.
Roadside Assistance — And Whose Figure This Is

That figure is the dealership’s rather than Mazda’s — Mazda publishes no roadside term for a new vehicle on the pages we work from, so we are not going to attribute one to it. What Certification Adds On A Used Mazda
A Mazda Certified Pre-Owned vehicle carries a 12-month/12,000-mile Limited Vehicle Warranty with no deductible on covered repairs, plus a 7-year/100,000-mile Limited Powertrain Warranty counted from the day the vehicle was originally purchased new rather than from the day you buy it. Maintenance Is Not Warranty
Scheduled maintenance is work the vehicle needs because it has been used: oil and filter changes, tire rotations, brake wear, cabin filters. A warranty covers a defect, not a service interval, so maintenance is not covered by either warranty and skipping it is one of the things that can put a claim at risk. A safety recall is a manufacturer campaign, and it is repaired at no charge to the owner whatever the vehicle’s warranty status, however old the vehicle is and wherever it was bought. Two clocks, and the one that runs out first
The New Vehicle Limited Warranty runs 3 years or 36,000 miles and the Powertrain Limited Warranty runs 5 years or 60,000 miles, both from the day the vehicle went into service and both ending on whichever of the two limits arrives first. That second clause is where people get caught: a vehicle driven a long way covers 36,000 miles well inside three years, and the broader coverage ends with it. Why this page is shorter than you expected
Because every figure on it carries a source, and we only publish the ones we hold. Two Mazda-published warranty terms, the Mazda Certified Pre-Owned terms, and one roadside figure the dealership gave us and which this page attributes to the dealership. Everything else a warranty page normally lists — corrosion, hybrid and electric-drive components, emissions, deductibles — is available in plenty of places on the internet and in none of them with a Mazda page behind it. A page that printed those would be telling you Mazda said something Mazda has not said, on the one subject where a customer acts on the answer.
