Every figure below is taken from the 2026 owner’s manual for the model it names. There is no single Mazda interval to quote: the twelve models disagree with each other, and on four of them the answer also depends on which engine the car has. Where Mazda publishes nothing, this page says so instead of supplying a number.

One Lineup, Twelve Schedules
The single most useful thing to know about Mazda maintenance is that there is no lineup-wide interval. Mazda prints a scheduled maintenance table per model, and those tables disagree on purpose. Engine oil and filter runs to 10,000 miles or 12 months on ten of the twelve, while the two MX-5 body styles are on a flexible interval governed by the wrench indicator with a 12-month or 7,500-mile ceiling. Tire rotation takes three different figures. Spark plugs run anywhere from 40,000 to 120,000 miles, and four models carry two figures because they are sold with two engines. Reading one model’s number onto another is the most common way a maintenance answer goes wrong.
What Counts as Severe Driving Here
Marketing tends to assume Gulf Coast weather makes every car a severe-service case. Mazda’s own documents mostly say otherwise. On the Mazda3 Sedan and Hatchback, CX-30, CX-50, CX-70, CX-70 Plug-In Hybrid, CX-90 and CX-90 Plug-In Hybrid, Mazda lists three severe conditions — extended idling or low-speed operation, unpaved or dusty roads, and mountain or uphill driving — and none of them is climatic. The CX-50 Hybrid’s list is the same three plus a heavily-loaded-vehicle condition, which Mazda maps to the transmission and differential fluid rather than to the oil. The CX-5 is the model where humidity does appear: Mazda’s condition for extremely humid climates moves the brake fluid to annual replacement and the drive belt inspection to every oil change, and it leaves the oil interval alone. The MX-5 Miata and MX-5 Miata RF are the other exception, and the clearest one: extremely hot conditions and extremely humid climates each move those cars to Mazda’s Schedule 2 in full. Even there the oil stays on the flexible interval unless the car is idled heavily or driven in dust.

There is no single answer, because Mazda publishes a separate scheduled maintenance table for each model. Engine oil and filter is every 10,000 miles or 12 months on the Mazda3 Sedan, Mazda3 Hatchback, CX-30, CX-5, CX-50, CX-50 Hybrid, CX-70, CX-70 Plug-In Hybrid, CX-90 and CX-90 Plug-In Hybrid. The MX-5 Miata and MX-5 Miata RF use Mazda’s flexible interval instead: change the oil and filter when the wrench indicator comes on, and within 12 months or 7,500 miles of the last change either way.
Does Mobile heat and humidity put my Mazda on the severe maintenance schedule?⌄
For most of the lineup, no. On the Mazda3 Sedan, Mazda3 Hatchback, CX-30, CX-50, CX-70, CX-70 Plug-In Hybrid, CX-90 and CX-90 Plug-In Hybrid, Mazda lists exactly three severe-driving conditions — extended idling or low-speed operation, unpaved or dusty roads, and mountain or uphill driving — and not one of them is about weather. The CX-50 Hybrid’s list is the same three, plus a heavily-loaded-vehicle condition — towing a trailer, a camper, a car-top carrier — that Mazda maps to the transmission and differential fluid rather than to the oil. On the CX-5, Mazda’s extremely-humid-climate condition moves the brake fluid to annual replacement and the drive belt inspection to every oil change, and it does not shorten the oil interval. When do my brake pads and rotors need replacing?⌄
Mazda schedules a disc brake inspection on all twelve 2026 models and publishes no replacement mileage for pads or rotors on any of them, because replacement depends on how the brakes have actually worn. Anyone quoting you a mileage for Mazda brake pads is not quoting Mazda. Our technicians measure the pads at inspection and tell you what is left.
How often should I rotate the tires on my Mazda?⌄
Three different intervals across the lineup. Every 10,000 miles on the Mazda3 Sedan, Mazda3 Hatchback, CX-30, CX-5, CX-50 and CX-50 Hybrid. Every 7,500 miles on the CX-70, CX-70 Plug-In Hybrid, CX-90, CX-90 Plug-In Hybrid, and on the MX-5 Miata and MX-5 Miata RF under Mazda’s normal schedule. Every 5,000 miles on the two MX-5 body styles once Mazda’s Schedule 2 applies.
What does the wrench indicator on my Mazda mean?⌄
It is Mazda’s own service reminder. On the CX-5, Mazda states that the wrench indicator comes on before the maximum interval is reached and that the maintenance should be carried out when the display or wrench indication appears — the printed mileages are a ceiling rather than a target. Mazda also repeats the same note on nine of the twelve models: reset the engine oil data whenever the oil is replaced, whether or not the indicator was showing.
