There Is No Tire Life to Quote

The Nine Conditions
Mazda’s list, in its own terms: repeated short-distance driving; driving in dusty conditions; driving with extended use of brakes; driving in areas where salt or other corrosive materials are used; driving on rough or muddy roads; extended periods of idling or low-speed operation; driving for long periods in cold temperatures or extremely humid climates; driving in extremely hot conditions; driving in mountainous conditions continually. Any one moves the whole car to Schedule 2.
What Gulf Coast Driving Does Change
The MX-5 is the model where the Gulf Coast framing is straightforwardly sourced. Mobile-area driving matches Mazda’s seventh condition, extremely humid climates, and its eighth, extremely hot conditions — and for many owners the first, repeated short-distance driving. Any one of those puts the car on Schedule 2 in full. Two limits hold: it does not shorten the oil interval by itself, and the trigger is how the car is actually driven rather than where it is registered.
The Oil Is a Separate Question
Engine oil flexible maintenance is Mazda’s U.S. default and it survives into Schedule 2. Only extended periods of idling or low-speed operation, and driving in dusty conditions switch the car onto the fixed 5,000-mile or 6-month oil interval. A MX-5 Miata on Schedule 2 for humidity is still on wrench-light oil changes with a 12-month, 7,500-mile ceiling.
What Schedule 2 Does to the Tires
Two things.
