What a Front-Only Setting Does Not Read
The rear geometry, and therefore the line the car actually tracks on. Where the rear is square, a front setting is the whole answer and there is nothing to gain from more. Where it is not, a front-only setting can leave the steering wheel off centre with all the front figures in specification — which is why we measure the rear before deciding rather than after.
What Mazda Does Schedule Either Side of It
Steering operation and linkages every 20,000 miles or 24 months, and front and rear suspension, ball joints and wheel bearing axial play every 20,000 miles or 24 months. Those two rows are where the causes of an alignment complaint are found. Neither of them is an alignment, and neither is presented here as one.
There Is Still No Interval
Mazda schedules no wheel alignment for the CX-5. There is no alignment row in its maintenance table, at any mileage or any age, and there is none in any other 2026 Mazda manual in this lineup either. An alignment is a response to something — a pull, a tire wearing across its tread rather than evenly, a kerb or a pothole, or a steering or suspension part replaced — and never a mileage that came round.
The CX-5’s Severe Schedule Is Item by Item
This is the part of the CX-5’s table most often quoted wrongly. Mazda does not move this car onto a severe schedule as a whole — it maps each condition to specific items, and every row it does not name keeps its normal interval.
Four Items, Not a Second Table
Mazda publishes the CX-5’s severe schedule as four item-level overrides — engine oil and filter, engine air filter, drive belts, brake fluid — rather than as a second whole table. Every other row keeps its normal interval, because Mazda gives it no severe row at all.
What Actually Shortens the Oil Interval
Three of Mazda’s seven conditions, and only three: prolonged idling or low-speed use, unpaved or dusty roads, and mountain or uphill roads. Any of those moves the CX-5 oil and filter to 5,000 miles or 6 months. None of the three is about weather.
What Gulf Coast Driving Does Change
Mobile-area driving plausibly matches four of Mazda’s CX-5 conditions — repeated short trips, extremely high temperatures, long periods of heavy rain, and extremely humid climates or extensive brake use. Read against Mazda’s own matrix those move the drive belt inspection and the brake fluid. They do not move the oil.
