What’s New This Model Year
The CX-5 arrives fully redesigned, and the clearest change is what Mazda took out. The turbocharged engine is gone, and so is the Signature trim it powered. What is left is one engine, one transmission, standard all-wheel drive and a five-step trim ladder — a simpler lineup than the outgoing car offered. One Engine Across the Lineup
Every trim runs the same 187-hp SKYACTIV®-G 2.5-liter four-cylinder through a 6-speed automatic. The turbocharged engine the previous generation offered is no longer part of the lineup, so horsepower is no longer something you buy up the ladder for.
All-Wheel Drive on Every Trim
i-ACTIV AWD® is standard from the 2.5 S through the 2.5 S Premium Plus. There is no front-wheel-drive CX-5 in this lineup and no all-wheel-drive upcharge to add — a change from a segment where front-wheel drive is the usual starting point.
Five Trims, No Signature
The ladder runs 2.5 S, 2.5 S Select, 2.5 S Preferred, 2.5 S Premium and 2.5 S Premium Plus. The Signature trim that sat at the top of the outgoing CX-5 is not offered; the 2.5 S Premium Plus is now the flagship.
A 12.9-Inch Display From the Base Trim
The 2.5 S through the 2.5 S Premium carry a 12.9-inch center display, and the 2.5 S Premium Plus steps up to a 15.6-inch screen with touch control. The screen size is set by trim, not by an option package.

Because the CX-5 lineup shares a single engine, a single transmission and one drivetrain, the numbers below are the same whichever trim you choose. Nothing on this page changes as you move up the ladder except equipment.

The flagship trim steps up to a 15.6-inch center touchscreen with touch control — 2.7 inches more display than the trims below it carry.
360° View Monitor
A 360° View Monitor with underfloor, parking and mirrors-folded views, paired with Front Cross Traffic Alert and Braking for backing out of a parking space.
Adaptive Front-Lighting System
The Adaptive Front-Lighting System (AFS) steers the headlight beam with the front wheels, so the light follows the road through a curve.
Hands-Free Power Liftgate
A hands-free power liftgate with programmable height adjustment. It opens on approach — there is no foot-kick sensor to learn and no set height to work around in a low garage.
Personalization System
