Mazda CX-50 Hybrid Air Filter Replacement

A CX-50 Hybrid has two air filters and they are not on the same schedule. The engine air filter is what the engine breathes through; the cabin air filter is what you breathe through. Mazda replaces the first every 30,000 miles or 36 months and the second every 30,000 miles or 24 months — the same mileage, a shorter time limit.

What an Air Filter Service Covers Here

Both of the CX-50 Hybrid's filter rows, read against the mileage on the car rather than bundled into one job.

The engine air filter replaced at Mazda's interval, every 30,000 miles or 36 months.
The cabin air filter replaced at its own interval, every 30,000 miles or 24 months — a different element in a different place.
The filter housings and their seals checked while they are open, because an element that seals badly is doing part of its job.
The CX-50 Hybrid carries a third filter the rest of the lineup does not: the high voltage battery cooling intake filter, which Mazda has cleaned every 20,000 miles or 24 months. It is neither the engine filter nor the cabin filter and it is not a substitute for either.
Open recall and safety-campaign work checked against your CX-50 Hybrid’s vehicle identification number while it is here, and carried out in the same visit where parts allow.

Two Rows, Two Month Figures

Mazda prints these as separate rows with separate figures. These are the CX-50 Hybrid manual's own numbers.

Engine Air Filter
Every 30,000 miles or 36 months
Mazda's replacement interval for the CX-50 Hybrid, whichever comes first.
It is what the engine breathes through, and it is a replacement row rather than an inspection row.
Cabin Air Filter
Every 30,000 miles or 24 months
The same 30,000-mile figure as the engine filter and a shorter 24-month one.
On typical annual mileage the months figure arrives well before the mileage, so this is usually the one that governs.
Under Mazda’s Severe Conditions
Inspected Every 10,000 miles or 12 months
The CX-50 Hybrid is the one model in the lineup whose severe table gives this item a mileage: an inspection every 10,000 miles or 12 months.
That is an inspection and not a replacement. The 30,000 miles or 36 months replacement figure stays the normal one, and this page does not present the two as the same row.

Sourced from the Scheduled Maintenance section of the 2026 Mazda CX-50 Hybrid owner’s manual, pages 9-4 to 9-6, together with its Recommended Oil and Lubricant Quality and Capacities tables. Your own manual is the authority for your vehicle; bring the mileage and our team will read the table with you.

What Mazda Specifies

Which filter is which, what each is for, and where Mazda stops.

The Engine Filter

Replaced every 30,000 miles or 36 months on the CX-50 Hybrid. It keeps dust out of the intake, and it is the filter a service advisor means by "air filter" unless they say otherwise.

The Cabin Filter

Replaced every 30,000 miles or 24 months. It filters the air coming through the vents, which is why Mazda gives it a shorter time limit than the engine filter despite the identical mileage. Pollen filter and cabin air filter are two names for one element. Mazda calls it the cabin air filter, the aftermarket usually calls it the pollen filter, and your car has one of them, not one of each.

An Inspection, Not a Shorter Replacement

The CX-50 Hybrid's severe table marks this item for inspection every 10,000 miles or 12 months. It is the only severe air filter mileage in the lineup and it is an inspection: the 30,000 miles or 36 months replacement figure is unchanged.

No Part Numbers Are Published Here

Mazda’s maintenance schedule names intervals rather than elements. We fit the genuine parts catalogued for your vehicle by its VIN.

Severe Driving, and Heavy Loads

The CX-50 Hybrid is the one Mazda in this lineup with two separate routes to extra service, and neither of them is about the weather.

Three Conditions, and None of Them Is Weather

Mazda’s severe-driving list for the CX-50 Hybrid is three entries long: the vehicle is idled for long periods or driven at low speeds, such as with police cars, taxis, or a driver’s education school car; the vehicle is driven mainly unpaved road; the vehicle is driven mainly on mountain roads or uphill roads. Any one of them moves the engine oil and filter to 5,000 miles or 6 months.

A Fourth Test, and It Is About Load

Mazda attaches a separate condition to CX-50 Hybrid fluid work — a heavily loaded vehicle — Mazda’s examples are towing a trailer, using a camper and using a car top carrier. That condition, and not the driving list above, is what brings the automatic transmission fluid and both differential oils, inspected at 20,000 miles and replaced at 40,000 miles. The two tests are separate: a customer who tows gets the fluid services, a customer who drives on unpaved roads gets the short oil interval, and a customer who does both gets both.

What Gulf Coast Driving Does Change

Mazda’s severe-driving list for the CX-50 Hybrid has three entries and not one of them is about climate. Ordinary Mobile-area commuting matches none of them, so a Gulf Coast CX-50 Hybrid is a normal-schedule vehicle. What this model does have, and most of the family does not, is a second sourced route to extra service: heavy loads.

Give us the CX-50 Hybrid's mileage and we will tell you where both filters sit against Mazda's table.

Mazda CX-50 Hybrid Air Filter Replacement Near Mobile, AL

Dean McCrary Mazda replaces CX-50 Hybrid air filters at our Mazda service center in Mobile, at the intervals Mazda publishes for this model.

The Intervals

Engine air filter every 30,000 miles or 36 months; cabin air filter every 30,000 miles or 24 months. Same mileage, different time limit.

Which One You Actually Need

If the engine feels flat or the intake is dusty, it is the engine filter. If the vents smell or the airflow has dropped, it is the cabin filter. They are separate rows and we quote them separately.

Pricing and Booking

Pricing for air filter replacement moves, so it lives on the service offers page rather than being written into this one — what you read there is current. Book through the service scheduler, or see the rest of what Mazda schedules for the CX-50 Hybrid on the Mazda service center page.

Mazda CX-50 Hybrid Air Filter Replacement Questions

How many air filters does a CX-50 Hybrid have?

Two — an engine air filter and a cabin air filter, on separate rows with separate intervals.

How often do they need replacing?

Engine air filter every 30,000 miles or 36 months, cabin air filter every 30,000 miles or 24 months.

Does the Gulf Coast climate shorten either interval?

Mazda’s severe conditions for this model are about how the car is driven rather than the weather, and its severe filter treatment is not a shorter replacement mileage.

Can I do them at the same visit?

Yes, and often the sensible thing — but they fall due at different times, so we will tell you if only one of them is actually there yet.

How much is air filter replacement for a CX-50 Hybrid at Dean McCrary Mazda?
