Mazda CX-50 Hybrid Maintenance

Mazda's maintenance table for the CX-50 Hybrid puts the engine oil and filter at 10,000 miles or 12 months and hangs most of the rest of the car off that figure. What a maintenance visit actually contains therefore changes with the mileage: the list at the first service is not the list at the sixth, and this page is about which items arrive when.

10,000Miles or 12 Months · Engine Oil and Filter

30,000Miles or 36 Months · Engine Air Filter

What a Maintenance Visit Covers

Whatever the CX-50 Hybrid's own table marks at your mileage, which is a different list at one service than at the next.

The engine oil and filter replaced every 10,000 miles or 12 months with the grade Mazda names for this engine — SAE 0W-16 — and the items its table marks alongside them, starting with the disc brakes every 10,000 miles or 12 months.
The longer-interval items when they fall due: the engine air filter every 30,000 miles or 36 months, the cabin air filter every 30,000 miles or 24 months, and the spark plugs at 120,000 miles.
The tires rotated at 10,000 miles — Mazda prints that row as a mileage and gives it no month figure — and the coolant, which runs on the longest clock on the car: first at 100,000 miles, then every 50,000 miles.
This page and the maintenance schedule page are two questions about one table, not two services. One is about the items — what falls due on this car and when. The other is about the document — how Mazda built the table, what its symbols mean and which of its schedules applies to you. Every figure on both comes from the same source, so they cannot tell you two different things.
Open recall and safety-campaign work checked against your CX-50 Hybrid’s vehicle identification number while it is here, and carried out in the same visit where parts allow.

What Falls Due, and When

Read off the CX-50 Hybrid's own table. Normal figures and severe figures are marked as such, and neither is given as the other.

Engine Oil and Filter
Every 10,000 miles or 12 months
Mazda's oil row for the CX-50 Hybrid falls at 10,000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first. It is the row the rest of the table is timed against.
Mazda's three driving conditions move this row to 5,000 miles or 6 months. Its separate heavy-load condition does not — that one brings the automatic transmission fluid and both differential oils, inspected at 20,000 miles and replaced at 40,000 miles instead. Both are severe figures and each belongs to its own test.
The Items on Their Own Clocks
Their Own Figures
Engine air filter every 30,000 miles or 36 months; cabin air filter every 30,000 miles or 24 months; tire rotation every 10,000 miles; spark plugs at 120,000 miles.
Engine coolant runs longest of all: first at 100,000 miles, then every 50,000 miles. Brake fluid is replaced every 20,000 miles or 24 months on this model.
Two Severe Tests
Driving, and Load
The CX-50 Hybrid has two separate routes to extra service. Three driving conditions move the engine oil and filter to 5,000 miles or 6 months, and a separate heavy-load condition — a heavily loaded vehicle — Mazda’s examples are towing a trailer, using a camper and using a car top carrier — brings the automatic transmission fluid and both differential oils, inspected at 20,000 miles and replaced at 40,000 miles. The two tests are independent and a page must not merge them.
A customer who tows gets the fluid services; a customer who drives on unpaved roads gets the short oil interval; a customer who does both gets both. Neither list is about the weather.

Sourced from the Scheduled Maintenance section of the 2026 Mazda CX-50 Hybrid owner’s manual, pages 9-4 to 9-6, together with its Recommended Oil and Lubricant Quality and Capacities tables. Your own manual is the authority for your vehicle; bring the mileage and our team will read the table with you.

What Mazda Names by Name

Where Mazda is specific it is worth following exactly, and where it publishes nothing that is worth saying plainly.

The Oil and Its Capacity

Mazda specifies SAE 0W-16 for the CX-50 Hybrid, approximately 4.3 L (4.5 US qt) with the oil filter replaced and 4.0 L (4.2 US qt) without. If SAE 0W-16 is not available, Mazda says SAE 0W-20 may be used — but that it must be replaced with SAE 0W-16 at the next oil change. It is a stopgap, not an equivalent.

The Coolant Mazda Specifies

FL-22 type, replaced first at 100,000 miles, then every 50,000 miles. Mazda’s own note warns that using a coolant other than the one it specifies may cause serious damage, which is why the product name matters more here than on most rows.

This Table Is This Car’s

Mazda prints a separate maintenance table for each model and they disagree with each other on purpose. Every figure on this page is the CX-50 Hybrid's own, read off its own manual — a figure taken from a sibling Mazda would be wrong rather than approximate, and that is the commonest way a maintenance answer goes wrong.

Where Mazda Publishes Nothing

Three things this table does not contain, on this model or any other in the lineup: a brake pad or rotor replacement mileage, a fuel filter row, and a month or year limit on the spark plug row. Those are answers rather than gaps — the first two are decided by measurement and the third simply is not published — and this page gives them as answers rather than filling them in.

Severe Driving, and Heavy Loads

The CX-50 Hybrid is the one Mazda in this lineup with two separate routes to extra service, and neither of them is about the weather.

Three Conditions, and None of Them Is Weather

Mazda’s severe-driving list for the CX-50 Hybrid is three entries long: the vehicle is idled for long periods or driven at low speeds, such as with police cars, taxis, or a driver’s education school car; the vehicle is driven mainly unpaved road; the vehicle is driven mainly on mountain roads or uphill roads. Any one of them moves the engine oil and filter to 5,000 miles or 6 months.

A Fourth Test, and It Is About Load

Mazda attaches a separate condition to CX-50 Hybrid fluid work — a heavily loaded vehicle — Mazda’s examples are towing a trailer, using a camper and using a car top carrier. That condition, and not the driving list above, is what brings the automatic transmission fluid and both differential oils, inspected at 20,000 miles and replaced at 40,000 miles. The two tests are separate: a customer who tows gets the fluid services, a customer who drives on unpaved roads gets the short oil interval, and a customer who does both gets both.

What Gulf Coast Driving Does Change

Mazda’s severe-driving list for the CX-50 Hybrid has three entries and not one of them is about climate. Ordinary Mobile-area commuting matches none of them, so a Gulf Coast CX-50 Hybrid is a normal-schedule vehicle. What this model does have, and most of the family does not, is a second sourced route to extra service: heavy loads.

Two Tests, Kept Apart

The CX-50 Hybrid has two separate routes to extra service. Three driving conditions move the engine oil and filter to 5,000 miles or 6 months, and a separate heavy-load condition — a heavily loaded vehicle — Mazda’s examples are towing a trailer, using a camper and using a car top carrier — brings the automatic transmission fluid and both differential oils, inspected at 20,000 miles and replaced at 40,000 miles. The two tests are independent and a page must not merge them. Merging them would tell a customer who tows that their oil interval had halved, or a customer on unpaved roads that their fluids were due, and neither is what Mazda published.

Tell us the CX-50 Hybrid's mileage and we will read its own table against it — and tell you which items are actually marked at that column.

Mazda CX-50 Hybrid Maintenance Near Mobile, AL

Dean McCrary Mazda carries out CX-50 Hybrid scheduled maintenance at our Mazda service center in Mobile, working from this model's own table rather than a generic interval.

The Figures on This Car

Engine oil and filter every 10,000 miles or 12 months, engine air filter every 30,000 miles or 36 months, tire rotation every 10,000 miles, and spark plugs at 120,000 miles.

And the Severe Column

Mazda's severe treatment of this model moves the engine oil and filter to 5,000 miles or 6 months. Its severe-driving list names no weather condition at all, so ordinary Mobile-area commuting does not put this car on it.

Pricing and Booking

Pricing for Mazda maintenance moves, so it lives on the service offers page rather than being written into this one — what you read there is current. Book through the service scheduler, or see the rest of what Mazda schedules for the CX-50 Hybrid on the Mazda service center page.

Mazda CX-50 Hybrid Maintenance Questions

How often does a CX-50 Hybrid need maintenance?

Mazda's oil and filter row falls every 10,000 miles or 12 months on this model and most of the rest of the table is timed against it. Which items are actually due depends on the mileage column you have reached.

What gets done at a maintenance visit?

Whatever this model's table marks at your mileage. At most visits that is the oil and filter and the rows marked with them; at longer intervals it takes in the air filter, the plugs or the coolant as well.

Does Mobile weather put my car on the severe schedule?

Mazda’s severe-driving list for the CX-50 Hybrid has three entries and not one of them is about climate. Ordinary Mobile-area commuting matches none of them, so a Gulf Coast CX-50 Hybrid is a normal-schedule vehicle. What this model does have, and most of the family does not, is a second sourced route to extra service: heavy loads.

Is this the same as the maintenance schedule page?

This page and the maintenance schedule page are two questions about one table, not two services. One is about the items — what falls due on this car and when. The other is about the document — how Mazda built the table, what its symbols mean and which of its schedules applies to you. Every figure on both comes from the same source, so they cannot tell you two different things.
