What’s New This Model Year
The CX-50 Hybrid is a separate model from the gas CX-50 rather than a trim of it, and the differences are real: a 219-hp hybrid system in place of the two gasoline engines, 38 mpg combined in place of 25 or 26, and less cargo and towing capacity as the cost of the battery and motors. One Hybrid System Across Three Trims
A 2.5-liter four-cylinder works with three electric motors through an eCVT for 219 hp and 163 lb-ft. Every trim gets the same system, so moving up the ladder buys equipment rather than power.

All-Wheel Drive on Every Trim
