Mobile-area driving matches Mazda’s seventh condition, extremely humid climates, and its eighth, extremely hot conditions — and for many owners the first, repeated short-distance driving, since an RF is frequently a second car. Any one of those puts the car on Schedule 2 in full. Two limits hold: it does not shorten the oil interval by itself, and the trigger is how the car is actually driven rather than where it is registered.
The Oil Is a Separate Question
Engine oil flexible maintenance is Mazda’s U.S. default and it survives into Schedule 2. Only extended periods of idling or low-speed operation, and driving in dusty conditions switch the car onto the fixed 5,000-mile or 6-month oil interval.
