Mazda’s own key: I is inspect, and it defines that as inspect and clean, repair, adjust, fill up or replace if necessary. R is replace, T is tighten and C is clean. Any one of those puts the car on Schedule 2 in full. Two limits hold: it does not shorten the oil interval by itself, and the trigger is how the car is actually driven rather than where it is registered.
The Oil Is a Separate Question
Engine oil flexible maintenance is Mazda’s U.S. default and it survives into Schedule 2. Only extended periods of idling or low-speed operation, and driving in dusty conditions switch the car onto the fixed 5,000-mile or 6-month oil interval.
