The Severe Disc Brakes Halve
Mazda moves the Schedule 2 disc-brake inspection to every one of the twelve columns on this model year — every 5,000 miles or 6 months. The model year before it marks the row at every other column, every 10,000 miles. That is the one row on this table a borrowed schedule gets wrong in the direction that costs a customer money, in one direction or safety in the other.
Three Rows Move onto the Grid
On Schedule 1 the air filter becomes every 22,500 miles or 36 months and the cabin air filter every 15,000 miles or 24 months, both marked at fixed columns rather than performed at the oil change; the tire rotation becomes a printed sentence, rotate every 12,000 km (7,500 miles). On Schedule 2 the air filter becomes every 30,000 miles or 36 months and the rotation a printed every 8,000 km (5,000 miles).
Every Severe Chassis Row Tightens
Drive belts move from every 30,000 miles to every 20,000; the fuel lines, brake lines, steering, suspension, driveshaft dust boots and chassis bolts from every 20,000 miles to every 15,000; the emission hoses and tubes from a single mark at 40,000 miles to every 30,000; and the exhaust system from a printed 45,000-mile sentence to a single mark at 35,000 miles or 42 months.
The Conditional Rear Differential Oil Is Last Printed Here
This model year attaches two footnotes to the rear differential oil row. The second one carries a figure: if the vehicle is operated primarily while towing a trailer or using a car-top carrier, in dusty, sandy or wet conditions, with extended idling or low-speed operation, or on repeated short trips of less than 16 km (10 miles), replace the rear differential oil every 48,000 km (30,000 miles). The following model year prints only the submerged-in-water footnote, so a later CX-3 has no published interval here at all.

Mazda’s Own Condition List
Repeated short-distance driving; driving in dusty conditions; driving with extended use of brakes; driving in areas where salt or other corrosive materials are used; driving on rough or muddy roads; extended periods of idling or low-speed operation; driving for long periods in cold temperatures or extremely humid climates; driving in extremely hot conditions; driving in mountainous conditions continually. Mazda prints: follow Schedule 1 if none of these apply, and if any do apply, follow Schedule 2.
It Is the Whole Car, Not One Row
On this car a single condition moves the entire schedule to Schedule 2 — the oil, the disc brakes and every chassis row with it. Mazda’s newer books do something different and map each condition to specific items, leaving every other row on its normal interval. Two different models of severe service, and neither may be written the other one’s way.
Flexible and Fixed Are a Separate Question
Mazda prints, for this model year: engine oil flexible maintenance is selected by default for U.S.A. and Puerto Rico residents, and if either extended periods of idling or low-speed operation such as a police car, taxi or driving-school car, or driving in dusty conditions applies, follow Schedule 2 with engine oil fixed maintenance. So a dusty-conditions car is on Schedule 2 and on the fixed 5,000-mile oil interval rather than on the wrench light.

Schedule 2 — Severe Driving
The severe-driving table for this model year, every chassis row tighter than the model year before it.
Every 5,000 Miles or 6 Months
Engine oil and filter on the fixed basis, disc brakes, engine coolant level, brake and clutch fluid level, tire inflation pressure and tire wear, function of all lights, all locks and hinges lubricated, and washer fluid level. Tire rotation runs at the same cadence and is printed as a sentence: rotate every 8,000 km (5,000 miles).
Every 15,000 Miles or 18 Months
Fuel lines and hoses, brake lines, hoses and connections, steering operation and linkages, front and rear suspension with ball joints and wheel bearing axial play, driveshaft dust boots, and the bolts and nuts on the chassis and body. The same rows sit at every 15,000 miles or 24 months on Schedule 1 — the mileage matches and the month figure does not, which is exactly why the two tables are quoted separately.
Cabin Air Filter — 25,000 Miles
Mazda prints, on this model year’s Schedule 2: replace every 40,000 km (25,000 miles) or 2 years. That is the CX-3’s own figure and it is not the one Mazda prints for every other crossover of the same era, so a severe cabin filter borrowed from a showroom neighbour is wrong for this car. Schedule 1 replaces the cabin air filter every 15,000 miles or 24 months.
The Longer Severe Rows
Every 20,000 miles or 24 months — drive belts. Every 30,000 miles or 36 months — air filter, and hoses and tubes for emission. At 35,000 miles or 42 months, once — exhaust system and heat shields. Spark plugs and engine coolant carry the same figures they carry on Schedule 1, and the emergency flat tire repair kit is inspected annually. Mazda adds one note to the severe air filter row: if the vehicle is operated in very dusty or sandy areas, clean and if necessary replace the air filter more often than the recommended intervals.

It is where Mazda rewrote most of the CX-3’s table.
