This Model Year Opens Mazda’s 2022–2025 Table
Mazda published the same Mazda CX-5 maintenance schedule across 2022–2025 — four model years — and this is the first of them. The revision that opens the span lands on this model year, which is why it is not read off the model year before it. The model years after it inside that span read the same table unchanged, and each has its own page saying so.
The Diesel Block Leaves Both Tables
The model year before these carries a SKYACTIV®-D 2.2 block on both U.S. schedules — a diesel air filter, a diesel fuel filter, diesel exhaust fluid for the SCR system, a glow plug row and a diesel drive-belt row. These model years carry none of it, and the combined engine header goes with it. Every gasoline figure is unchanged across that boundary, so what moved is which cars the table is about — and a diesel owner needs the model year that still has those rows, not this page.
Mazda Schedules No Brake Fluid Replacement on Schedule 1
There is no brake fluid replacement row on the normal table for any of these model years — only a brake and clutch fluid level inspection, and that on Schedule 2. The current CX-5 does carry a brake fluid replacement row. That is a newer car’s figure and it may not be carried back to this one, in either direction.
The Cabin Air Filter Is Shorter on the Normal Table
Schedule 1 replaces it every 15,000 miles or 24 months. Schedule 2 prints a sentence instead: replace every 48,000 km (30,000 miles) or 2 years. The severe table is the LONGER of the two on this row, which is the opposite of what most people expect, and it is why every figure on this page is labelled with the table it comes from rather than quoted as the car’s interval.
The Severe Model Is the Whole Car
On these model years a single condition from Mazda’s own list moves the entire schedule onto Schedule 2 — the oil, the disc brakes and every chassis row with it. Schedule 1 — Normal Driving
These model years’ normal-driving table, grouped by the interval Mazda marks each row at.
Sourced from the Scheduled Maintenance (U.S.A., Canada, and Puerto Rico) section of the 2022 Mazda CX-5 owner’s manual, section pages 541 to 546, confirmed identical in the 2023, 2024 and 2025 manuals — the 2024 comparison was re-derived mark by mark because its only textual differences were PDF artifacts — and confirmed against Mazda’s own standalone scheduled-maintenance excerpts for two of these model years. No manual from outside this span was used. The Canada residents table and the Mexico section printed in the same manual are out of scope here. Your own manual is the authority for your vehicle; bring the mileage and our team will read the table with you. Mazda’s Own Condition List
Repeated short-distance driving; driving in dusty conditions; driving with extended use of brakes; driving in areas where salt or other corrosive materials are used; driving on rough or muddy roads; extended periods of idling or low-speed operation; driving for long periods in cold temperatures or extremely humid climates; driving in extremely hot conditions; driving in mountainous conditions continually. Mazda prints: follow Schedule 1 if none of these apply, and if any do apply, follow Schedule 2.
It Is the Whole Car, Not One Row
On this model year a single condition moves the entire schedule to Schedule 2. The current CX-5’s manual does something different: it maps each condition to specific items and leaves every other row on its normal interval. Two different models of severe service, and neither may be written the other one’s way — which is the main reason this page exists separately from its parent.
Flexible and Fixed Are a Separate Question
Mazda’s flexible engine-oil maintenance is offered to U.S.A. and Puerto Rico residents whose car is not operated with extended periods of idling or low-speed operation, such as a police car, taxi or driving-school car, and is not driven in dusty conditions. Where either applies, fixed maintenance is followed — engine oil and filter every 5,000 miles or 6 months — even on Schedule 2. So the 5,000-mile oil figure is not the severe interval for every CX-5 driven in severe conditions.
Rows That Are Not for This Market
The same manual prints a Canada residents table and a separate Mexico section. Neither is quoted on this page, and a change Mazda made only to the Canada table is not a change to the table a Mobile CX-5 is read on. Schedule 2 — Severe Driving
The severe-driving table for these model years, and the rows on which it is not the shorter of the two.
Every 5,000 Miles or 6 Months
Engine oil and filter on the fixed basis, disc brakes, engine coolant level, brake and clutch fluid level, tire inflation pressure and tire wear, function of all lights, all locks and hinges lubricated, and washer fluid level. Tire rotation runs at the same cadence and is printed as a sentence: rotate every 8,000 km (5,000 miles).
Every 15,000 Miles or 18 Months
Fuel lines and hoses, brake lines, hoses and connections, steering operation and linkages, front and rear suspension with ball joints and wheel bearing axial play, driveshaft dust boots, and the bolts and nuts on the chassis and body. The same rows sit at every 15,000 miles or 24 months on Schedule 1 — the mileage matches and the month figure does not, which is exactly why the two tables are quoted separately.
The Rows Where Schedule 2 Is the Longer Table
Cabin air filter — every 30,000 miles or 2 years, printed as a sentence, against 15,000 miles or 24 months on Schedule 1. Air filter — every 30,000 miles or 36 months, against 22,500 miles on Schedule 1. Severe driving does not shorten either of those rows on this car; it lengthens them, and a page that assumed otherwise would sell a filter twice as often as Mazda schedules it.
The Rest of the Longer Severe Rows
Every 20,000 miles or 24 months — drive belts. Every 30,000 miles or 36 months — hoses and tubes for emission. At 35,000 miles or 42 months, once — exhaust system and heat shields. Spark plugs and engine coolant carry the same figures they carry on Schedule 1, and the emergency flat tire repair kit is inspected annually. Mazda adds one note to the severe air filter row: if the vehicle is operated in very dusty or sandy areas, clean and if necessary replace the air filter more often than the recommended intervals.

Why These Model Years Have Their Own Page
They are the first CX-5 tables without the SKYACTIV®-D 2.2 diesel rows, and the last of this generation. Mazda schedules no brake fluid replacement on their normal table where the current car does, and their cabin air filter is 15,000 miles on Schedule 1 against 30,000 on Schedule 2 — the severe table being the longer one, which is the opposite of the intuition.
