What’s New This Model Year
The CX-30 is refreshed rather than redesigned, and the changes are chassis rather than sheet metal: a brake limited-slip differential and retuned dampers across the whole lineup. Everything else that defines the car — standard all-wheel drive, two engines, six trims here — carries over. Dean McCrary Mazda stocks the lineup on the I-65 Service Road in Mobile.
A Brake Limited-Slip Differential, Lineup Wide
A brake limited-slip differential is new across the CX-30 range this model year, working with the standard all-wheel-drive system to manage grip through a corner. It is standard on every trim rather than reserved for the turbocharged one.
Retuned Dampers on Every Trim
The dampers are updated across the lineup for this model year, a change aimed at ride and body control rather than at outright power. No trim was left on the outgoing setup.
All-Wheel Drive on Every Trim
i-ACTIV AWD® is standard from the 2.5 S Select Sport through the 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus. There is no front-wheel-drive CX-30 and no all-wheel-drive upcharge to add.

Two Engines, One Drivetrain
Every CX-30 drives all four wheels, so the drivetrain is the same whichever trim you choose. The engine is not: five of the six trims here are naturally aspirated and one is turbocharged, and the EPA figures move with it.

i-ACTIV AWD® as Standard Equipment
All-wheel drive is standard from the base trim on this model, which is not how the subcompact-crossover segment usually starts. There is no version of the CX-30 that drives only the front wheels.
10.25-Inch Center Display
A 10.25-inch center display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is standard from the 2.5 S Preferred upward.
The Light Interior Treatment
The Aire Edition is the CX-30’s light-and-airy interior package, sitting between the Preferred and the Carbon Edition on the ladder rather than at the top of it.
The Blacked-Out Exterior Treatment
The Carbon Edition trades the Aire Edition’s light treatment for a blacked-out exterior, on the same naturally aspirated engine and the same standard all-wheel drive.
The Turbocharged Engine
The flagship trim is the only place the turbocharged engine appears in this ladder, carrying the full equipment list on top of it.
Dimensions & Capability
A five-passenger subcompact crossover. Seating and cargo are the same on every trim, and Mazda does not rate the CX-30 for towing at all.
