What’s New This Model Year
The CX-70 Plug-In Hybrid is a separate model from the gas CX-70 rather than a trim of it: a 323-hp plug-in hybrid system in place of the inline-six, 32 miles of electric-only driving, and a lower tow rating as the cost of the battery. Two trims, one powertrain, all-wheel drive on both. Dean McCrary Mazda stocks the lineup on the I-65 Service Road in Mobile.
One Plug-In Hybrid System, Both Trims
The e-Skyactiv Plug-In Hybrid system makes 323 hp and 369 lb-ft on 91-octane premium fuel. Both trims get the same output, so the step up the ladder buys equipment rather than power.
32 Miles Before the Engine Starts
32 miles of EPA-rated electric-only driving, then 26 mpg on gasoline once the battery is depleted — 61 MPGe combined. Both figures are identical on the two trims.
All-Wheel Drive on Both Trims
i-ACTIV AWD® is standard on both trims. There is no front-wheel-drive version of this model and no all-wheel-drive upcharge to add.
